Now we know John Moorlach’s next move
On Tuesday, Jan. 27, newly elected Secretary of State Alex Padilla certified the list of candidates who will appear on the March 17 Special Primary Election ballot for the 37th Senate District.
The news release just landed in my inbox… and now I know what John Moorlach is up to.
The candidates and their official ballot designations are:
•John W. Moorlach (Party Preference: Republican) – Orange County Supervisor
•Naz Nam Azi (Party Preference: Republican) – No Ballot Designation
•Donald P. Wagner (Party Preference: Republican) – Business Owner/Assemblyman
The Senate District 37 special election is being held to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mimi Walters, who won election as U.S. Representative for California’s 45th congressional district last November.
Ms. Walters officially resigned from the California Senate earlier this month, triggering the special election.
My expectation is that John Moorlach will win a majority of the votes cast, so no runoff election will be needed in May.
